The U-Prep boys and girls cross-country teams won the Northern Athletic League championship on Thursday at Margaret Polk Park in Shasta Lake.
The Panthers had the top four finishers in 2.8-mile race and collected 15 points as the only school with a full team.
Grace Gaddy won the race in 16 minutes, 28.15 seconds followed by Becca Gaido (16:31.66), Serena Tate (17:25.33) and Hannah Cusworth (17:27.40), respectively. Yreka’s Ceiba Cummings rounded out the top five (17:58.69). The Panthers’ Meagan Saunders completed the team with a sixth-place finish in 18:12.78.
Central Valley’s Kendall Moxness was eighth (18:50.74) and Hannah Fox was ninth (18:55.20). CV had two other racers with Kaylie Flatley taking 12th (22:45.84) and Tavie Loffmark finishing 14th (26:08.43).
Anderson’s lone competitor Kylee Lavine was 13th (23:45.35).
U-Prep won with 31 points, having two of the top three finishers and all five were in the top 10. Yreka (40 points) was second, West Valley was third (68 points) and Lassen fourth (92 points).
West Valley’s Marcus Francescut won the 2.8-mile race in 14:37.05. U-Prep’s Gideon New (14:39.66) and Connor Davainis (14:40.36) took second and third, respectively, and the rest of the Panther team included Isaiah Feaver (7th, 15:07.41), Rhys Cooper (9th, 15:13.62) and Jacob Matties (10th, 15:15.27).
Yreka’s Elijah Higelin (4th, 14:41.02) and Jade Wilder (5th, 14:52.72) were both top-five finishers.
West Valley’s Damion White was sixth (15:07.06), Dominic Chain was 21st (16:03.03), Alex Wayman was 29th (19:22.14) and Austin Bradford was 30th (19:25.27).
Central Valley had four competitors led by Raymond Haeckel (15:26.96), who was 13th. The rest of the Falcons were: Tyler Manor (18th, 15:47.45), Dysen Vigil (24th, 16:13.75) and Ayden Manor (28th, 18:58.41).
Anderson’s team included Simon Griggs (19th, 16:01.81), Billy Smith (27th, 18:25.46) and Emiliano Alanis (32nd, 28:00.63).
