Tri Counties Bank Girls Basketball Player of the Week: Kiley Tiran

Don’t let the small school mystique fool you. Kiley Tiran is coming to play this season.

Burney High’s 5-foot-7 junior forward has been tearing up the court so far this winter. Not only was her 13.9 points per game last year as a sophomore second-most among returners in Shasta County, but she’s improved upon that success for her 2018-19 campaign.

Tiran averaged 23.3 points and 6.7 steals per game while helping Burney go 3-0 in its own tournament to be named the Tri Counties Bank Girls Basketball Player of the Week. She scored 25 points in a 51-42 win over Big Valley, dropped 23 points in a 54-31 victory against Weed and poured in another 22 points on Saturday in a lopsided 71-30 drubbing of Maxwell. In all three games, Tiran had eight made 2-point field goals to up her average to 17.3 points per game this season, good enough for third-best in Shasta County and 10th in the Northern Section.

In the tournament, Tiran added 20 steals, 10 assists and nine rebounds, making her an all-around threat that has led the Raiders to a 9-2 start, earning them the Shasta County Sports Girls Basketball Team of the Week.

Tiran also earns a free drink coupon from Black Rose Coffee & Tea, a sponsor for the Player of the Week for the Boys & Girls Basketball season.
