Foothill outlasts Shasta for 72-67 overtime win

The Shasta Wolves played 30 minutes of pretty good basketball Tuesday against Foothill. Problem is, including the overtime period, the game lasted 36 minutes.

Foothill (18-7, 5-2 Eastern Athletic League took advantage of ice-in-the-veins free throw shooting late, five players in double figures and a few bad possessions by the Wolves to come away with a 72-67 EAL win at the Cougars’ Palace.

Foothill outmuscles Shasta for a 65-53 road league win

There’s a 1954 book called “How to Lie with Statistics.” The premise is that numbers can, at times, be distorted and twisted to tell half-truths and partial stories.

There was no stretching the truth Thursday to the fact that the stat sheet said the Foothill boys basketball team outrebounded Shasta 36-18 in a 65-53 Eastern Athletic League win at Harlan Carter Gym. The other telling stat was that the Cougars made as many free throws as the Wolves had boards.
