Sierra Pacific Industries College Player of the Game: Knights O-Line
It was only a matter of time before the Shasta College offense started to roll.

It was only a matter of time before the Shasta College offense started to roll. We’ve seen glimpses of it over the past couple of weeks, but the Knights found their stride Saturday in a 45-17 road win over College of Sequoias in the Sierra Pacific Industries College Game of the Week.
Shasta went to its ground game early and often as Cavin Gillispie, Matthew McCree and Johnny Iniguez had plenty of running room and quarterback Hoku-Lani Wickard sat in the pocket with confidence with the way the offensive line performed.
The Knights recorded season-high’s in points (45), rushing yards (253), total yards (430) and first downs (26) and the offensive line was the common denominator on all the successful plays on the day. That’s why the whole Shasta College offensive line – Blake Curtis, Isaac Souza, Garrett McAlexander, Dallas Hatter and Michael Johnson are the Sierra Pacific Industries Players of the Week for Week 5.
We were able to run the ball, provide great protection for Hoke and really played physical from the start,” Shasta College head coach Craig Thompson said.
The Knights actually went to the running game early and often, controlling the tempo and having their way with the Giants. Shasta scored on four of its first five drives of the game and the confidence level in the offense picked up quickly.
“The whole mission for our game plan was to be physical and control the line of scrimmage,” Thompson said. “They had seven, eight, nine guys in the box and we wanted to go right at them.”
Shasta College gets a bye week next week but the way the guys in the trenches performed when the Knights needed a win before NorCal Conference play is a boost for the psyche for the second half of the season.
