Friday, Dec. 6

Prep girls basketball

Foothill 45, Mazama (Ore.) 42
The Cougars beat the Vikings at the Arcata Invitational. Isa Padilla turned in a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Melissa Mitchell chipped in with 13 points to put Foothill in the tournament championship.

Shasta 59, Oakmont 39
The Wolves outscored the Vikings 16-2 in the opening quarter in the consolation semis of the Dorothy Speck Tournament but led 25-22 at half. Shasta won the third period by 12 points and cruised to a win.

Prep boys basketball

West Valley 60, Eureka 45
The Eagles won in a very physical game, said coach James O’Brien. Sean Proscher had 20 points and Marcus Francescut had 18 points. Freshman Jackson Walker hit two big 3s in the fourth quarter for West Valley, which was up 28-25 at half.

Western Sierra 60, Central Valley 56
The Falcons trailed 24-17 at half and nearly came back with a 27-point fourth quarter but couldn’t finish with a win. Dojah Alido scored 16 points, Nawoj Cawker added 11 points on three 3-pointers and Willie Mowry had eight points.

Thursday, Dec. 5

Prep girls basketball

Foothill 65, McKinleyville 62
The Cougars won in the opening round of the Arcata Invitational. Melissa Mitchell scored 17 points, Emma Roach scored 11, Ashlyn Arnold added 10 points and Hayden Toney pitched in with eight points.

Las Plumas 41, Anderson 36
The Cubs were 12-of-31 from the free throw line in the game. Averi Feusi led Anderson with 12 points.

Folsom 62, Shasta 34
The Wolves were outscored 16-7 in the opening period and never rebounded in the opening round of the Dorothy Speck Tournament. Julianna Flores paced the Wolves with 10 points while Ella Rodriguez and Isabelle Smith each scored eight. Ava Jackson grabbed nine rebounds.

Prep boys basketball

West Valley 54, Ukiah 37
The Eagles won in the opening round of the Fred Iten Tournament in Ukiah. Sean Proscher scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Eagles, who led 34-10 at half. Marcus Francescut scored nine points.

Central Valley 54, Anderson 37
The Falcons won the opening game of their round-robin tournament, using a 17-6 second-quarter advantage to get ahead. Dojah Alido scored 16 points to lead CV, Nawoj Cawker scored 13 and Willie Mowry had eight.

Anderson’s Devin Armstrong scored 10 to lead the Cubs.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

Prep girls basketball

Anderson 51, Orland 39
The Cubs got the season off with a win over the Trojans as Kolby Friermood dropped 19, Danika Scott chipped in 12 and Averi Feusi added eight in the victory.

Anderson (1-0) led 27-12 at half. Big Blue plays Las Plumas on Thursday in the Anderson Tip-Off Classic.

U-Prep 64, Red Bluff 28
The Panthers for 13 from Kaleia Mizuta, 12 from Jordan McCoy, 11 from Emily Hokanson and 10 from Melanie Lindsey in the win.

West Valley 68, Las Plumas 29
The Eagles outscored the Thunderbirds 38-13 in the opening half and never looked back.

Fall River 66, Tulelake 22
The Bulldogs opened the season with a 20-3 edge in the opening quarter and routed the Honkers, limiting them to single digits in three of the four quarters.

Prep Boys Basketball

Redding Christian 86, Dunsmuir 16
The Lions held the Tigers scoreless in the opening period while dropping 27 of their own in the rout. RC put up quarters of 27, 24, 20 and 15 in the victory. Shane Harper scored 19 points and added 10 assists, Drew Nelson-Crowell scored 16 points to go with 10 boards and five blocks, Tyler Vickery scored 14 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range, Chase Covington scored 10 points and had eight rebounds and Jackson Black had five points, nine boards and four assists.

Anderson 67, Orland 52
The Cubs outscored the Trojans 37-26 in the middle two periods for the victory.

Red Bluff 68, West Valley 59
The Eagles lost despite Sean Proscher setting a single-game school record with 37 points.

Monday, Dec. 2

Prep boys basketball

Redding Christian 62, CORE Butte 27
The Lions won their opener behind 32 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks from Drew Nelson-Crowell and Shane Harper’s 11 points and five boards.

Prep girls basketball

West Valley 51, Shasta 46
The Eagles led 17-12 at half, 30-28 after three quarters and ended up with the win. Madalynn Bassett scored 14 points and Lexi Proscher added 11 points and 10 rebounds for West Valley.

Shasta’s Ava Jackson scored 22 points on six 3-pointers.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

Prep boys basketball

U-Prep 82, Enterprise 58
The Panthers won big against an upper division squad on the road to open the year, getting double-digit efforts from five players, led by Trevor Jones’ 21 points and seven steals. U-Prep knocked down 10 3-pointers in the game. Tanner Stephens scored 16 points to go with eight boards and four assists, Logan Hawes had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Aiden Lipman added 13 points and Kevin Cox scored 10 points.

U-Prep plays Foothill on Dec. 3 at Simpson University while Enterprise hosts state champion runner-up Mount Shasta Tuesday.

Central Valley 66, Colusa 48
Hunter Morrow dropped 18 points in the season-opener while Dojah Alido contributed 14 points and Nawoj Cawker added 12 points. Both Willie Mowry and Max Graundstadt chipped in with eight as the Falcons outscored the Redhawks 22-10 in the second quarter to win big at home.

CV plays at Shasta on Dec. 3.
