It’s been two weeks since the initial Shasta County Sports Heisman Watch List with the top 15 contenders was announced. Now that we’re getting into the gritty part of the season with rivalries, league games and the race for league championships are heating up, it’s time to see where everyone is sitting for the Heisman, presented by Clear View Auto Glass.

There are two weeks left in the regular season and some teams — such as West Valley — is playing in the final game before the playoffs (thank you Week Sub-Zero).

Again, this list is not a final say of who will win the Shasta County Sports Heisman but a way to look at where the contenders are at this point in the season. It’s also ranked in alphabetical order by last name.

NOTE: This is for public opinion and has NO IMPACT on postseason accolades. There is still half of the season, PLUS playoffs which will decide a lot. Any player can move into consideration, this ranking was checking in on the top 15 players, who are all still in the running for Shasta County Sports MVP.

Nathan Bova, RB, Shasta, Sr.

Season stats: 52 carries, 396 yards, 6 TDs | 12 catches, 283 yards, 3 TDs
Last week: 6 carries, 20 yards, TD | 81-yard catch in the 38-26 win over Enterprise in River Bowl XXVII
This week: vs. Foothill (5-3) in the “Battle for Redding”

Bova’s touches were limited last week in River Bowl XXVII but showed his speed and playmaking ability with an 81-yard catch in the game. He totaled 101 yards in the win over Enterprise and did find the end zone when he stretched out for the goal line on a sweep.
