Guard — Madalynn Bassett | West Valley | So.

Notable stats: 11.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 22 games scoring in double figures. Scored in double digits in each of the Eagles’ state playoff games.

It’s rare to see a sophomore stand on the big stage and shine. But Bassett was the guiding light for the Eagles in their state-title run. She scored in double-figures in seven of eight playoff games while averaging a tick under 15 points per night.

And while the spot-up shooter was deadly from range, West Valley coach Lenny Ehn said the 10th grader has worked hard all season to improve all facets of her game, including a mid-range shot which she showed off during the postseason run. She was able to play the 1 through 5 depending on the situation and never balked at taking on a challenge. She was a first team all-section selection and named all-league in the NAL.
