Prep girls basketball
Shasta 63, Red Bluff 33
Isabelle Smith scored 21 and Taryn Giacomelli added 14 as the Wolves evened their record at 1-1 with the win over the Spartans. Shasta took a 25-17 lead into intermission and were never threatened. Ella Rodriguez added seven points for Shasta, which hosts Foothill on Tuesday.
Foothill 47, Enterprise 40
The Cougars used a balance attack to beat the Hornets and improve to 1-1 on the season. Isa Padilla and freshman Lexi Peters each scored nine for Foothill. Padilla also grabbed seven boards. Amber Wallace scored seven with 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Ashlyn Arnold added eight for Foothill.
Anderson 45, Pierce 43
Kolby Friermood led the Cubs with 26 points, including 14 in the second half as Big Blue moved to 1-1 on the season. Kaitlyn Phillips added eight for Anderson, while Averi Feusi scored five in the win.
Thursday, April 29
Prep girls basketball
U-Prep 58, Anderson 20
The Panthers improved to 1-1 on the season a night after falling to Pleasant Valley. Against Anderson, U-Prep hit nine 3-pointers in the first half en route to the running-clock victory. Jordan McCoy led the Panthers with 14. Audrey Jones and Hannah Kirschman each scored nine while Melanie Lindsey added seven as all but one Panther scored. Ashlee Kraft, who didn’t crack the scorebook with points, pulled down a 12 rebounds on the night.
Anderson was led by Leslie Montgomery with seven and Averi Feusi with 6.
Tuesday, April 27
Prep boys basketball
Foothill 53, Red Bluff 39
The Cougars jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the opening quarter but trailed 20-17 at half. An 18-9 advantage in the third period helped Foothill earn its first win despite shooting 4-of-21 from 3-point range. Nick Dore scored 16 points, Hunter Edwards scored 13 points to go with five steals and Levi Moran pitched in with 10 points. Dore, Ryan Riggs, Carson Maasen and Moran each had five rebounds. Foothill hosts Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Enterprise 64, Shasta 53
The Hornets let 27-22 at half before outscoring the Wolves 20-10 in the third quarter.
Abby Shoff dropped 28, Trinity Fernandez had 17 points and Esmerelda James chipped in with 13 points in the season-opening win for the Hornets.
Shasta’s Isabelle Smith scored 25 points in the loss, scoring 13 in the final period. Taryn Giacomelli scored 14 points and Ella Rodriguez had five points for the Wolves.
Red Bluff 45, Foothill 44
The Spartans got an offensive rebound and putback with less than five seconds left for the win. Ashlyn Arnold led the Cougars with 12 points and five steals, while freshman Lexi Peters scored eight. Amber Wallace added seven points and eight boards for Foothill, which hosts Enterprise on Friday.
West Valley 12, Lassen 7
The Eagles won their season-opener over the Grizzlies. Hayden Boyes was 4 for 5 with a double, Waytt Brimhall was 3 for 5 with a double and Andrew Galyean earned the win on the mound, striking out five across five innings.
Fall River splits DH with Etna
Fall River won 11-6 and lost 11-1 Tuesday.
U-Prep 18, Anderson 0 (5)
The Panthers racked up 17 hits in the game. Will Tasista was 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and four runs, Alex Alvarez was 2 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, Chet Crummet scored three times and Scottie Jones drove in two runs. Sawyer Bonnin stole four bases. Dane Ritchie struck out six batters in three innings of work and Jones struck out five across two innings.
Redding Christian 9, Maxwell 5
Jace Churchin was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Karson Molter was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Gavin Webb and Clark Smith each drove in two runs and scored a run. Carson Piper struck out four batters in two innings on the mound and Paxton Rowan struck out five of the eight batters he faced.
Burney 6, Trinity 4
The Raiders’ Kaitlin Estes and Evelyn Castellanos each went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run and Peyton Estes and Vanessa Mungula both went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run.
Lassen 3, West Valley 2
The Eagles gave up a run in the top of the seventh to lose at home.
Fall River loses DH to Etna
The Bulldogs lost 7-6 and 8-3 Tuesday.
