Cooper Laloli had a little extra motivation playing rival Enterprise Friday night. With no postseason this spring due to the pandemic, Laloli wanted to make sure the final time he suited up in his home jersey was meaningful and represented the time he spent at Foothill.
“For a lot of us, this has been our home field since we were 6 or 7 so there’s a lot of feelings to win our senior night,” Laloli said. “You can’t ever come back to this and play on this field again as a Cougar.”
Laloli’s final game at Bill Johnson Community Stadium will be one he’ll always remember — rushing 25 times for 163 yards and a touchdown and adding another 30-yard catch to down Enterprise 28-15. His performance earned him the Redding Rancheria Player of the Game for the Tri Counties Bank Game of the Week.
Laloli caught the edge and turned it upfield on multiple occasions but also found a seam between the tackles for his third 100-yard performance of the season. As most would, he credits his linemen — tackles Jack Maready and Lyndell Martin, guards Matthew Granger and Jonathan Labarbera and center Connor Polen — for opening up holes and giving him running room.
In the game, Laloli had seven rushes that went for 10 yards or more, including a 44-yard scamper that set up his fellow senior backfield teammate Hayden Crook for his first touchdown of the season.
In the two meetings against Enterprise, Laloli rushed 55 times for 355 yards and two touchdowns — accounting for 52 percent of his rushing yards on the season.
