One loss against a winless team was still enough to keep Shasta College in the latest CCCAA JC Athletic Bureau Poll Top 25 rankings.

The Knights, who entered last week No. 21 in the state poll, loss 30-29 to Laney College Friday night. Despite the defeat, Shasta dropped four spots and is ranked 24th with College of the Sequoias coming to town for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

Knights rankings are presented by Tri Counties Bank.

Although Laney was winless and not ranked in the CCCAA Poll, the Eagles had lost to a pair of top 10 squads, and now takes Shasta’s place at 21st.

Two other NorCal Conference squads are ranked in the poll – Butte at 10th and American River at 12th. Every NorCal Conference team lost last week except Sierra, which had its game against West Hills canceled.

This week’s opponent, Sequoias, received 15 points – 26 behind Shasta – to be on the bubble and ranked as the 27th team in the state.

In the national rankings from JCGridiron.com, Shasta didn’t move from its 52nd ranking. There are 12 teams from California in the Dirty 30 rankings while another 15 are bubble teams that stretch out to the top 60 in the nation.
