KNIGHT NOTES: #23 Shasta looks for first conference win at Siskiyous Saturday

The Knights didn’t start off NorCal Conference play the way they wanted to.

Shasta, which entered No. 1 in the state in rush defense, gave up more yards on the ground in last week’s 28-13 loss to American River than it did in the previous four games combined. However, the Knights had a season-best three takeaways on defense but the offense sputtered to a season-worst in yards (225) and rushing yards (74).

Knights coverage is presented by Shasta OrthopaedicsTri Counties Bank and Redding Rancheria. Shasta County Sports is NOT broadcasting the game. You can watch their live stream of the game here and pay $5.

This week, the 23rd ranked Shasta Knights (0-1 NorCal, 3-2) look to get back on track against rival College of the Siskiyous (1-4) in Weed. The two faced off a pair of times in the condensed spring 2021 season and both endings were in dramatic fashion.

Siskiyous won the first meeting despite the Knights scoring in the final minute to take the lead only to have the Eagles win on a Hail Mary. Shasta avenged that loss with a 24-point second-half comeback to capture the three-team NorCal Conference title.
