Football Roundup: PV handles Enterprise; Small helps Fall River stay unbeaten

For the second straight week, the Pleasant Valley Vikings opened the game with a kickoff return for a score. Last week, it was against Shasta. Friday, it was Dalton Walker opening the game against Enterprise with an 81-yard score as PV downed the Hornets 48-19 in Redding.
The Vikings would take a 31-0 lead into half before Enterprise quarterback Leslie Cummings found wideout Sean McDonald for a score to make it 38-6 PV. The Hornets’ Anthony Norman added two touchdowns on the ground on his way to a 100-plus yard night.
Enterprise (1-5, 0-2 Eastern Athletic League) travels to Foothill next week, while PV (5-2, 3-0) has a bye before playing Foothill on Oct. 19.
Fall River 21, Etna 7
Fall River trailed 7-0 at halftime in a meeting of the top two Northern Section Division V teams but senior running back Bailey Small scored three second-half touchdowns to help the Bulldogs stay unbeaten. Small scored twice in the third quarter and once more in the fourth to help Fall River move to 6-0 on the season.
U-Prep 40, Hamilton 13
The Panthers moved to 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Mid-Valley League with the blowout win over the Braves.
Riley Seay ran for three scores, while quarterback Dylan Cabral ran for a score and threw one to Jordan Miller. Cole Abel added a rushing TD for U-Prep, which hosts Williams on Friday.
Lassen 48, Central Valley 8
The Grizzlies (4-2, 2-0 Northern Athletic League) came down the mountain and went home with a blowout NAL win over the Falcons (2-4, 0-1).
Frank Manriquez scored the lone touchdown for the Falcons, who travel to Corning on Friday.
Chester 47, Burney 14
The Raiders scored more points against the Volcanoes than they had all season, but fell to 0-7 on the season.
Redding Christian 63, Butte Valley 0
The Lions improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the 8-Man North standings after pasting the Bulldogs on the road. RC hosts Dunsmuir on Friday.
