Twelve Shasta County wrestlers have reached the semifinals after the opening day of the Northern Section Masters wrestling championships on Thursday at the Redding Civic Auditorium. Enterprise capped its 23-5, 10-0 EAL regular season with blowout wins over Shasta and Chico last week and assured itself that the road to the D-III crown runs through the Hornets. The Foothill girls basketball team is having its best season in 15 years. The proof is in record … and playoff points released by the Northern Section today. The Cougars are No. 2 in Division III heading into the final week of the regular season, having jumped Pleasant Valley since the initial playoff points release last week. Death, taxes and Jadyn Matthews – some things are just reliable. The Enterprise senior again put up monster numbers helping the Hornets to clinch the Eastern Athletic League title last week with a road win over Pleasant Valley.
Matthews dropped 32 in the 64-59 victory over the Vikings, the reigning section champions. She followed that up with a 22 and 11 night in a 65-55 win over Red Bluff. Her efforts earned Matthews the Tri Counties Bank Girls Basketball Player of the Game honors for Week 10. It’s the second consecutive week she’s grabbed the honor and the fourth time this season.Read More
