2019 Top 50 Football Returner Rankings: No. 6, Timothy Westlund

Fall River’s Timothy Westlund expects to be a workhorse in every sense of the word for the Bulldogs in 2019.

6. Timothy Westlund (5-11, 180), RB/LB, Fall River, Sr.

What a lineage of football talent the Westlund family has established for the Bulldogs.

Johnny Westlund (2015 Fall River alum) ran for 1,042 yards and 16 TDs as a senior during a 10-1 mark, reaching a section title game. The year before, Michael Westlund totaled 1,229 rushing yards and 8 TDs for the 9-4 Bulldogs as a senior, reaching the section finals.

So if there’s a trend here, it’s a safe bet Bulldog senior Timothy Westlund reaches 1,000 rushing yards, double-digit touchdowns in 2019 and Fall River is playing Thanksgiving week for a section title. The scary part is Bulldogs’ coach Todd Sloat says Timothy is even better, which is why he comes in at No. 6 in the 2019 Shasta County Sports Top 50 Returner Football Rankings.

The players are ranked based on varsity experience and potential impact for the upcoming season. Coaches’ opinions, statistics, postseason accolades, video highlights and the “eye test” were all factors in compiling the list. The only teams included are in Shasta County.

Westlund ran 46 times for 338 yards and four touchdowns last year and added another five catches for 165 yards and two scores.

With the Bulldogs graduating a ton of talent last year, the younger Westlund looks like he’s the true workhorse in every sense of the word and will draw a lot of attention in McArthur. His toughness, vision and speed separates him to an elite talent, especially at the small school level.

If Westlund registers a monster season, there’s a good chance the Bulldogs repeat as section champs.
